With Mon Laferte, the women’s band Mujeres del Viento Florido will conquer New York

The Regional Women’s Band Women of the Flowery Wind will be presented with My Laferte at Lincoln Center in NY, next February 19.

For this presentation, 20 musicians will travel under the baton of their director, the teacher Leticia Gallardo from Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca, where the group has its headquarters.

In an interview for EL UNIVERSAL, director Leticia expressed that “women have the opportunity to perform in a different country and an emblematic place fills us with emotion, pride, sharing Oaxacan music with a singer like Mon.”

The collaborations that have been carried out with the Chilean singer have been accompanied with music from an Oaxacan band. “It is significant for us to work among women,” shares the teacher Leticia.

The band has a participation with Mon Laferte in the song life goesone of the tracks of six and a mini-documentary about the making of the piece, published by the famous interpreter.

This women’s group has 13 years of experience and has accompanied the Chilean singer in various presentations. The last time they shared the stage was on January 19, at the Festival del Huaso de Olmué, in Chile.

On the Lincoln Center page it is stated that the participation of the band that will perform for the first time outside of Mexico “claims the interpretation and study of traditional Mexican music for women from indigenous communities”, and highlights the recent nomination in the Grammy for the Chilean singer.
