“Spring is coming and the Bœuf Villé with it”, summarizes Frédéric Laporte, the mayor of Montluçon, during the press conference presenting the 2022 edition, Thursday March 3.
The municipality is all the happier with the arrival of Le Bœuf Villé, since, after a cancellation in 2020 and a reduced format in 2021, this year’s edition will regain the magnitude it was known for.
The festivities that will take place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 20 March will stand in two timesfirst in schools and then in the streets of the city for the general public, on weekends.

“This year, the Bœuf Villé is regaining its characteristic traits, but changes, born last year because of the health context, have been renewed or even accentuated”, notes Frédéric Laporte.
Despite the return to face-to-face of the battle of confetti, the grand parade or even the cremation of Carmentrau, thehe Facebook page of the City of Montluçon is very active for several weeks concerning the Bœuf Villé 2022 and its preparation. Tutorials to learn choreography – on Soan’s song, Together stronger! – Where for making costumes and accessories are always visible.
Throughout the ten days that the carnival will last, photos and videos will be posted online. Finally the Wednesday March 23, a video summarizing the 2022 edition will be visible.

Like last year, the city will organize breakfasts or snacks with Carmentrau’s visit to schools from Thursday 10 to Friday 18 March. What had been put in place last year by the constraint of the health context turned out to be an idea acclaimed by schools now.
“The fact that Carmentrau travels has been acclaimed by schools. We realized that it made it easier for them to participate rather than having the children come to Place Jean-Jaurès. We reach more children because twenty-two schools and two leisure centres, representing more than 2,000 children, will take part in the Bœuf Villé this year. »

“We canvassed all the schools, only five refused”, adds the mayor of Montluçon.
Alongside Carmentrau, the company Attrape Sourire will visit the establishments.
Videos of the choreographies will also be made in the canteens of schools that will not participate in Bœuf Villé 2022.

Sunday March 20the day will start with entertainment at the Ville-Gozet market from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m..
The big parade will finally return to the city center from 3 p.m.. The fifteen floats will leave from Place Jean-Jaurès to reach the Carré du Cher by taking Boulevard de Courtais.

Because of the Covid-19, the Boeuf-Villé goes to meet in the schools of Montluçon (Allier)
New in 2022
New for 2022 will be a participatory workshop for families to create a balloon structure which will parade through Montluçon during the big parade on Sunday. The workshop will take place at the MJC in Fontbouillant, Saturday March 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday’s day of the 2022 edition will end with the embrace of the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon, at 10 p.m., place Piquand. The fireworks display is not really a novelty because it had already taken place once in 2019. “It was a novelty that was very popular at the time so we wanted to do it again”, underlines Frédéric Laporte.
The embracing of the castle will be preceded by a torchlight procession in the medieval city. It will leave at 9 p.m. from the Esplanade Louis II de Bourbon to head towards Place Notre-Dame then Rue Grande towards Place Piquand. The Percu’Fola percussion group will accompany this torchlight retreat.
