BALTIMORE (AP) – Adam Engel hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning and the Chicago White Sox enter the All-Star break with a 7-5 victory over Baltimore on Sunday, completing the sweep in the season over the Orioles.
Andrew Vaughn hit two home runs for the White Sox, who have won five games in a row and 10 of their last 13 overall. Chicago leads the AL Central with an eight-game advantage over Cleveland.
The White Sox were 7-0 over Baltimore on the season. It is the first time in franchise history that Chicago has swept a season series of at least seven games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Baltimore lost its fourth straight game and is 1-7 in July. The Orioles have lost eight straight games to the White Sox, a streak that began in 2019 and is the longest in the series between the two teams since another of eight games in 1989-90.
It was Chicago’s first sweep of a series at Camden Yards since 2005.
