With hits from Harper and Turner, Phillies rally to beat D-backs

Bryce Harper had three hits, Trea Turner added a go-ahead, two-run single and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 on Thursday.

Philadelphia has won four of five to bounce back after losing six straight.

The Phillies took control of the game with a four-run sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead. Weston Wilson tied the game with an RBI single, Turner hit a two-run single to go ahead and Harper capped the inning with an RBI single to right field.

But the D-backs — who have rallied to win several times in their recent run — responded with speed. Jake McCarthy hit a two-run homer off reliever Orion Kerkering in the bottom of the sixth to pull his team within 4-3.

Arizona entered the game hot with a 5-1 record in its most recent road series at Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Even with Thursday’s loss, they are 22-10 since July 1.

For the Phillies, Panamanian Edmundo Sosa was 2-for-5 with one RBI. Dominican Johan Rojas was 0-for-4 with one run scored.

For the Diamondbacks, Dominicans Ketel Marte 0-for-4 with one run scored, Geraldo Perdomo 2-for-4 with one run scored. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 2-for-4. Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez 1-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI, José Herrera 1-for-3.
