With explosives they attacked the CAI of the Police in Florida, Valle del Cauca

The incident occurred around 6:00 pm on Friday, May 21, after the Government Secretariat of Miranda, Cauca, reported that an explosive object was thrown at the police station of the Immediate Attention Command (CAI) together with the municipal jail, where the guard was even injured.

The place of the attack was the Nuevo Horizonte neighborhood, on the border between the municipalities of Miranda and Florida in Valle del Cauca. According to Ronald Cuesta, representative of the Florida municipality, a fragmentation grenade was simultaneously thrown at the facilities of the Miranda municipality jail. According to Cuesta, thanks to the armor of the structure, the damage was minimal and no people were injured.

Similarly, the mayor of Florida, Álex Orozco, held a security council after the attack, where this act of public order was analyzed in that municipality in the south of Valle del Cauca and where they have not been able to identify or individualize those responsible.

After leaving only material damage, the attack forced the facilities to be out of service, after generating panic among the inhabitants of this town in western Colombia.

With regard to the events recorded in the Miranda municipal jail, an inmate and one of the guards were injured, who were referred to a health center, where they are currently recovering from the outbreak. According to witnesses to this attack on the detention center, those responsible for throwing the grenade fled on motorcycles.

The Secretary of Government of Miranda, Alejandro Ausecha, was informed of the security problem that put the lives of three people at risk and said that fortunately no one was seriously injured:

Apparently, simultaneously in Florida, Valle, a grenade was also thrown. By chance I am in this situation and the secretary there called me and told him that something similar happened there. The prison guard was injured

We still do not know who the authors are, it is under investigation. In Florida, Valle del Cauca, bordering Miranda, another attack occurred in a sector known as Nuevo Horizonte. According to the police report, at 5:45 pm, the detonation of explosive devices occurs outside the CAI Nuevo Horizonte, leaving only material damage.

Another of the scenes of violence in the Valley was registered in the municipality of Cartago, in the north of the department, where clashes also occurred between protesters and members of the Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (Esmad). These confrontations took place in the vicinity of the municipal hospital. In the area, there were also cases of citizens who were victims of tear gas.

In the region, road blockades persist in San Pedro, Tuluá, Palmira, Cerrito, Pradera, Candelaria, Guacarí, Cali, Jamundí, Buga, Buenaventura, among other locations, which have economically affected sectors that demand the unblocking of the roads.
