On the first day of the ICT Minister’s tour, Mauricio Lizcano, he launched several programs that strengthen the department and direct its digital transformation. The day, which included visits to Santa Bárbara de Pinto, Tenerife and Pivijay, not only inaugurated the 601 antenna that this Ministry put into service in the last year, but also served to launch the programs ‘Mi Colombia Digital’ and ‘Talento Tech’ in Magdalena.
“Technology is not just for big cities or the upper classes. Technology has to reach remote areas, less favored communities, where there are needs. That is one of the things I like most as Minister: fulfilling the mandate of the Government of Change, of reaching areas where the state has not reached for years. That is why we are here, in Santa Bárbara de Pinto, giving you a voice of hope, to tell you that you are not alone, that from the Ministry we are with you“said the ICT Minister, Mauricio Lizcano (@MauricioLizcano) from that municipality, your first stop on today’s agenda.
In Santa Bárbara de Pinto, ‘My Digital Colombia in Magdalena’ was presented, a program through which 269 electronic offices and 968 mail licenses were delivered to different public entities in 30 municipalities. Each electronic office includes services such as a website, data center with domain and licenses, among others; administration, technical support and training, so that entities can provide a better service to citizens. With this delivery, 25 mayor’s offices, 161 educational institutions, 31 health entities, 18 legal entities and nine municipal councils throughout Magdalena benefit, in addition to the departmental Assembly and the Comptroller’s Office, among others.
“In Santa Bárbara de Pinto, a town of dreamy, humble and hard-working people, we are seeing how the current Government is present in the different territories of the municipality, and we appreciate it, just as we appreciate the digital headquarters for public institutions, the mayor’s office, the Personería, the Council and the different educational institutions. I think that all of them are already beginning to see a change, since we have never before had the possibility of having this technology, which will undoubtedly improve the efficiency of our institutions. The world revolves around technology, and Pinto cannot stay on the sidelines.”said the mayor of this municipality, Hegel Alfonso Garizao.
During the delivery, the ICT Minister shared with several of the beneficiaries of the municipality. One of them is Luis Eduardo Larios, rector of the Gilma Royero Educational Institution, who stated that “The electronic headquarters that they have given us is from now on our official communication channel, and our showcase on the Internet. Now we can show the world the activities that we carry out from a single site, and making our educational institution visible. For us it is a huge step, because with your commitment, we are advancing in the digital transformation of our beautiful Santa Bárbara de Pinto.”
A commitment to digital education
To complete the virtuous circle of connectivity, innovation and digital education that will enhance Magdalena, the ICT Minister traveled to Tenerife, where he presented ‘Tech Talent’ for the department. This free digital training program has the goal of improving the technological skills of 13,847 inhabitants, with its intensive courses in programming, data analysis, artificial intelligence, Cybersecurity, Cloud architecture, Blockchain.
“The history of Colombia should recognize Tenerife more, due to the meaning it has in history. That is why we are here today, to begin a digital transformation, thinking about the competitiveness of the territory. I am certain that Magdalena will move forward with new alternatives and one of them is technology, we need these young people who are here to prepare themselves, so that they can help us transform the region. That is what we offer with ‘Talento Tech’, tools so that new generations can stay and work from these territories.“said Minister Lizcano during the presentation of this program.
In addition to technical training, ‘Talento Tech’ helps the development of soft skills, practical projects and has an employability route that includes work days, mentors and networking. Registration is still open at www.talentotech.gov.co
“TEnerife has been a town forgotten by the Government for a long time, and today it is being rediscovered by the deep Colombia, which deserves opportunities, innovation and progress. Minister, your commitment is proof that the work to close the technological gap is a continuation of the spirit of freedom, thank you for making Tenerife seen as a space with a future. We recognize your efforts to lead our people towards an era of possibilities, where technology is a tool“said the mayor of Tenerife, Jorge Mercado Botero.
At the launch event there was also space to learn what young people in the region expect from this program. Daniel David Díaz, first enrolled in data analysis, assured that “The expectations I have are very high, because I can develop my digital skills and thus obtain better offers in the labor market. I invite the entire community to register and be part of this whole digital revolution.”
Minister Lizcano’s agenda in Magdalena will continue tomorrow in Aracataca, where he will launch the Community Zones for Peace and make other announcements to continue advancing on the path that will make Colombia a Digital Power.
