The funding is expected to help people in Ukraine and Moldova. This new European Union (EU) humanitarian aid will provide food, water, health care, shelter and basic needs. The EC is also coordinating material assistance to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Tenders have now been received from 20 Member States – Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. includes eight million basic medical supplies and civil protection support.
The first truck from Slovenia arrived in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, on Sunday. Moldova has activated a mechanism to support Ukrainians arriving in the country. Austria, France and the Netherlands have already offered emergency assistance to Moldova, such as housing and medical assistance. The EC is in regular contact with Ukraine’s other neighbors and stands ready to provide further assistance if requested.
