With credits from the Transformation Fund, the Alvearense winery increased its production : Mendoza Government Press

Carlos Lalik from Alvear can expand the surface of his vineyards and increase the production capacity of his winery thanks to soft financing from the FTyC.

Bodegas Lalik SAS received a credit of 3.8 million pesos from the Investment line of the Provincial Fund for Transformation and Growth (FTyC). With this soft financing, it is expanding the surface of its vineyards and, consequently, it will increase the elaboration of its varietal wines.

Currently, he has four hectares with malbec, cabernet franc, muscatel, syrah, bonarda and Pedro Giménez grapes. This area will extend eight more hectares, where the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties will be planted.

The wines from Bodegas Lalik SAS, located on National Route 188, shortly before reaching the city of General Alvear, are mainly destined for the domestic market, since they are sold, among other provinces, in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Neuquen and Tierra del Fuego. In addition, they are exported to Brazil and Slovakia.

The brands of its wines are Casa del Artesano, Pájaro Argentino, Lalik and La Leonor (whites), to which must be added the Monte Ralo sparkling wine.

wine tourism

We are on vacation, so it is good to highlight the wine establishments that receive contingents of tourists in their facilities to taste wines. Bodegas Lalik is one of them, since it is common for visitors from General Alvear to go to its cellar, which, thanks to a policy of its commune, has an incipient and promising tourist activity.

“This is thanks to the Fund”

Carlos Lalik is a 63-year-old winemaker who, since 1977, when he graduated, has been dedicated to the world of wine.

After working for a while in a dependency relationship, he decided to become independent, so with savings, he acquired a farm and a winery and since then he has not stopped growing hand in hand with his artisan wines.

Currently, he carries out his ventures with his son Carlos (38) and his wife Viviana.

At the moment, his main project is the extension of the surface of his vineyards in a plot where fruit trees were eradicated.

There comes the FTyC, because – he pointed out – “the investment we are making is thanks to the Fund. Without its soft rate and its grace period, necessary to recover the investment, we would not be able to expand”.

Carlos warned that his firm “was always linked to the Fund. I remember that on one occasion we were able to acquire inputs thanks to an operation that we carried out together with other producers”.

The expansion of his enterprise will imply work, since the new vineyards will employ “at least three new people, that is, three families”, while the greater production of wines will also mean giving permanent employment to “three operators, a number that in the middle of the season it could be five more”.
