“Krevese is predestined for this,” says Ralf Engelkamp, ”because this Romanesque church contains the gravestones of the founding parents of all Bismarcks still alive today.” Reinard Seehafer, director of the Altmark Festival, sees it the same way. His series brings culture to special places, including Krevese. There, the founding parents had the patron’s box installed in addition to the altars and the organ. “And the Counts of Osterburg declared St. Mary’s to be their house and prayer monastery,” says Ralf Engelkamp.

“Women’s Power in the Baroque” is the motto on August 24, 2024 from 6 p.m. in the historic church. Mezzo-soprano Sara Gouzy, Petra Schwieger (violin), Mimoe Todo (harpsichord) and Alf Moser (double bass) will present works by female baroque composers. In addition, texts by the first feminist baroque poet Sibylla Schwarz from Greifswald will be read.
