Nine miners were buried when a mine in Congo collapsed, but all were rescued by their colleagues digging up a pile of dirt with their bare hands.
According to BBC and Reuters reports on the 29th, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where heavy rain poured down on the 25th, a mine in South Kivu collapsed and nine miners were buried. In a video showing the situation at the time, which was released on Twitter, etc., it was a steep hill, so soil and stones continued to pour, delaying the rescue work.
Then the miners trapped inside began to escape one after another. Even when debris continued to fall from the steep slope, people did not give up and continued to dig holes again.
According to reports, all nine miners escaped and no one was injured. Those who watched from around clapped and cheered each time the miners succeeded in escaping one after another.
In Congo, miners are often buried in collapsed mines due to insufficient work equipment or safety measures. According to Reuters, earlier this month, two miners died in a burial accident that occurred at an illegal mine.
Even in this burial accident, the chances of the miners being rescued were not high, but all were able to be rescued thanks to a quick response before the mine entrance was completely blocked.
