With another Muncy HR, Dodgers beat SF

LOS ANGELES – Max Muncy contributed a solo home run that marked the lead in the opening of the sixth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 on Thursday night.

The game produced five hits from four corners.

The Giants have failed to beat their staunch rivals in four meetings this season. The Dodgers have prevailed 23-12 combined.

San Francisco saw a seven-game winning streak snapped on the road.

The Dodgers, who returned from a road trip in which they won four of five games, have posted 13 wins in their last 15 games.

Muncy’s 11th home run of the season came against former teammate Alex Wood, with a 0-2 count. The southpaw had allowed three home runs in his previous seven starts, and matched that total in just one game.

David Price started a game in which the Dodgers relied exclusively on relievers. The left-hander retired eight batters, five via strikeout, over 2 2/3 innings.

Kenley Jansen solved the ninth inning and was credited for his twelfth save.

The victory went to the Mexican Victor González (2-0). The defeat, for Wood (5-2).

For the Giants, Colombian Donovan Solano 4-1 with one run scored and two RBIs. Honduran Mauricio Dubón 1-0.

For the Dodgers, Albert Pujols 3-1.
