August 2020 saw two major milestones for Samsung. On August 5 of the same year, Samsung announced its latest Galaxy Note-branded smartphone, namely Galaxy Note 20 AND Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Where the Korean giant has decided to shift attention to its foldable phone.

The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra qualify for Samsung’s new three-year update policy, and we thought we’d remind owners of these devices that within Android 13 update-This policy has now expired.
The Galaxy Note 20 series launched with Android 10 out of the box, which means it won’t receive an update to Android 14 and life support, so to speak, in the future. Before Android 13 was released for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, those who owned both devices had something to look forward to even if the phones were discontinued and withdrawn from the market.
But the journey is finally over, for a major Android OS update. The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra will continue to have support with monthly security updates for at least another year, but the Android version will see no changes.
No Android 14, but the Galaxy Note 20 series could get One UI 5.1
As for upgrading to One UI, Samsung’s software overlay for Android smartphones, we can’t say for sure whether this is the end of the line or not. The Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra will likely get One UI 5.1, which will debut with the Galaxy S23 series in a few months, but we’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens.
A 5.1.1 UI, which is expected to accompany the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the second half of 2023, could also come to the Galaxy Note 20 series before it bogs down with security updates, but again, not there is no way to know for sure right now. Also, the One UI version x.1.1 update is primarily aimed at foldable phones, so One UI 5.1.1 probably won’t be a significant update for Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra owners even if both phones are eligible.
Luckily, any Note lover who wants longer software support and access to the next two versions can still get it, only now it’s under the Galaxy S Ultra brand. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is an excellent upgrade over the Note 20 / Note 20 Ultra, although we’d recommend waiting for the Galaxy S23 range, especially the Galaxy S23 Ultra, to get an official launch before making your decision.
Of course, you can also choose to keep the Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra and continue using them with Android 13 and above. A user interface5 While you can.
