For 50 years, Tropi, founded by Rodrigo Restrepo, has been in charge of distributing about 8,000 products from 250 brands, national and international, in the warehouses and stores across the country; which has allowed it to establish itself as a benchmark for its industry.
A few days ago, in the midst of the unemployment disturbances, the company saw its operations seriously affected, as more than 150 vandals attacked and destroyed the 2,100 square meters of one of its main distribution points, located in Yumbo, Valle.
Additionally, more than 70 company trucks were incinerated, which left the company in zero. To denounce the situation, Tropi made a video that quickly went viral and that being narrated in English facilitated its international reach.
“Our vision of growth and entrepreneurial spirit have been deeply affected by the events of recent weeks in Colombia (…) Not by peaceful protesters or youth, but by organized groups that infiltrated the protests to cause chaos”, points to the video.
The company, which has more than 3,000 employees, said it is confident that the situation will improve and even announced that when appropriate it will try to rebuild its facilities.
“We hope that this video can show different nuances of the situation in Colombia and especially the resilience of the private sector,” the message concludes.
