With a last-gasp goal from Henry Martín, América rescued a valuable 1-1 draw against Necaxa, thus going three games without defeat, this Saturday in a match corresponding to matchday nine of the Apertura 2024 tournament of the Liga Mx, played at the Victoria stadium, in Aguascalientes.
The Aguascalientes team, led by Eduardo Fentanes, surprised Las Águilas in the 38th minute, after Emilio Lara sent a back pass from the right, which Diber Cambindo let through for Agustín Palavecino to connect with the ball with a powerful shot and pierce the goal protected by Luis Ángel Malagón, putting the score at 1-0 to put his team ahead before halftime.
In the second half of the match, in the 63rd minute, it seemed that the visitors would manage to balance the score, after referee Óscar Mejía called a penalty for a handball in the area, but after reviewing the play in the VAR, he decided not to apply the punishment.
In the final stretch of the match, América went all out on the attack, while the Aguascalientes team was unable to score a goal that would extend their lead, and when it seemed that they would take the win, the Azulcrema captain Henry Martín appeared in the area to shoot from very close to the goal and with a right-footed shot he tied the game at 90+4.
With this result, the Rayos reached 12 points and are placed in 11th place in the general classification. The Coapa team, on the other hand, remained in tenth place, with 13 points.
In turn, Monterrey provisionally placed itself as leader of the general classification despite tying goalless against Mazatlán in a match held at the BBVA stadium.
After this draw, Rayados accumulated 20 points to occupy the first step of the table. In turn, the Cañoneros remained in 14th place, with seven units.
