With a High Tone, Jokowi Called RI in a Crisis Situation

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) apparently never explicitly revealed his annoyance to the ranks of ministers in a cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (06/18/2020).

Jokowi’s statement was revealed in a video published by the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (6/28/2020). The 10-minute video shows Jokowi’s speech at a cabinet meeting.

“I see, there are still many of us who are as usual. I am annoyed there. Is this not a feeling? The atmosphere is a crisis,” Jokowi stressed in a high tone before the ranks of ministers, as quoted Monday (6/29/2020) ).

Jokowi stressed that in the last 3 months Indonesia had experienced a crisis situation. Under these conditions, ministers are expected to have sensitivity in mitigating the impacts that can be caused.

“Please underline, and help us feel the same. There is the same sense of crisis,” he said.

The message Jokowi delivered to his staff was quite basic. Because the head of state at that time had just received information from a number of international institutions about the projected economic growth that was revised downward.

“The last OECD 1-2 days ago said that the growth of world economic growth contracted by 6, up to 7.6%. 6-7.6% minus,” he said.

“The World Bank said it could be minus 5%. These feelings must be the same. We must understand this. Don’t be mediocre, don’t be linear, don’t assume this is normal. It’s very dangerous for us. I see that there are still many of us who think this is normal,” he stressed.
