A drone made it possible to transfer medicines to a neighbor who was isolated in the Los Olivos sector, in Coihueco, a product of the frontal system that affects the Ñuble region.
The woman needed to continue her treatment at a certain time to keep her disease under control, so last Monday the local businessman, Guido Ferrada, provided help with his team, hanging the medicine package to the structure he uses for fumigation. agricultural.
The technology has a lifting capacity of 20 kilos of weight and a flight autonomy of 10 minutes.
“There was no way to get the medicine by land, because for the second time the Los Olivos sector maintains close to 10 families isolated as a result of a road block before accessing the bridge. (…) The drone traveled a distance of about a kilometer, from where we started the flight to a hill where the families were waiting for this shipment,” said Councilor Wilson Palma.
Before embarking on the flight with the medicine, tests were carried out to guarantee the success of the operation.
“First, a test was carried out with a stone so that no complications were generated and then the final flight was made in which this medicine could be delivered to this lady and her children who were complicated by a cold,” he commented.
Regarding the experience of the drone, Palma explained that “the team had flown several times because it covers many hectares fumigating, but no medicine had ever been transferred. It was just as complex that the flight could fail and the medicine fall into the river or deteriorate, because they were vials for injections. It was exciting when the neighbors received the package.”
“For the logistics issue, we communicated via cell phone with people to tell them where they had to be and how they had to untie the package, because it had a lasso so that the drone did not have to go down to the surface, since it could get entangled with the branches. ”, he added.
