BOSTON (AP) — Jose Altuve hit a two-run homer, Jon Singleton and Jeremy Pena added RBI singles in a four-run seventh inning, and the AL West-leading Houston Astros beat the Boston Red Sox 8-4 on Friday night.
Yainer Diaz added a two-run homer for the Astros, who hammered Boston’s bullpen to earn their third straight win. Bregman and Pena each finished with three hits.
Altuve homered off reliever Lucas Sims to tie the game in the seventh and hit his 224th career homer, fourth on the team’s all-time list.
David Hamilton hit a two-run double for the Red Sox, who were coming off three of four wins and a 4-2 road streak. Boston’s bullpen allowed seven runs and 12 hits in the final three innings.
For the Astros, Venezuelan Jose Altuve was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Dominican Yainer Diaz was 2-for-5 with one run scored and two RBIs. Cuban Yordan Alvarez was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Honduran Mauricio Dubon was 0-for-4.
For the Red Sox, Venezuelan Wilyer Abreu was 0-for-3. Dominican Rafael Devers was 0-for-4 with one RBI.
