The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, announced at a press conference the components for the construction of a border wall with Mexico, with a budget of 250 millions from the state fund.
During the press conference that was held this Wednesday in Austin, Texas, Governor Abbott, was concerned about the destruction of property, the smuggling of illegal drugs and weapons in the state.
“The Biden Administration has abandoned its responsibilities to secure the border and Texans are suffering as a result,”
Governor Abbott said.
He mentioned that there is little action from the presidency, so Texas is endeavoring to carry out the border wall construction as part of a comprehensive public safety effort, which will also help curb the large illegal influx of immigrants.
During the event, Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dade Phelan, as well as Senate House Finance and Appropriations Chairs, Jane Nelson and Greg Bonnen, signed a letter where 250 million dollars was authorized to start the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico.
This conference gave place, after the Border Security Summit last week, where strategies to secure the border were discussed.
The governor Abbott, indicated that a new record was achieved in the allocation of the state budget for border security with $ 1.1 billion.
