The 50-year-old in Thessaloniki reportedly bought not one, not two, but 23 thermometers before the death of her husband, who is accused of killing him by giving him a large amount of mercury.
Thessaloniki: The investigations of the murder by mercury
This is the conclusion of police investigations, which has just been confirmed to MEGA Live News by one of the pharmacists from whom he received them.
“A woman had come, twice, who had taken four or five thermometers and another time she took seven or eight, I’m not sure. To take, but not so much. Up to four, five, it has generally happened, but seven or eight that time I was more impressed. 15 It doesn’t have to be taken from me, but some he took from me. She told me that I think she is going to something like that she had told me so that this woman did not come again. I don’t remember her coming again, like my customer, she only came maybe twice and got this. Maybe she took something else sometimes, she wasn’t my client anyway.”
According to the information in the hands of the police, on 4 July 2018, the 50-year-old woman bought 4 thermometers from a pharmacy in Panorama, two days later she returned to the same pharmacy to buy another 4 to buy, and after a few days, in the same summer, another 15 bought from a pharmacy in Perea. A total of 23 mercury thermometers.
“How can you justify this thing now? And how was the case filed after they found the thermometers and all that stuff? The thermometers contain mercury. Assuming that he has done this “work”, was he throwing it in food? Into the drink? Where is this thing going? There appears to be a charge of murder. I have no intention of condemning or exonerating him. It is up to the authorities. And if I have to contribute, I will,” said a relative of the 60-year-old.
Defendant’s response to the 23 thermometers
In her apology, the 50-year-old admitted that she bought thermometers, but she says they were fewer in number and she sent them in a package to her sister in Poland.
“It is true that I bought at least 6 thermoses of mercury from a pharmacy in Panorama, one of which I gave to my husband who was in the hospital, and the rest I sent by parcel to my sister in Poland. After a few days, I went to another pharmacy in Perea, bought another 12 mercury thermometers, and I gave one of these to my husband again, and the rest I sent again by parcel to Poland. “
Large amounts of sedatives
Another suspicious element emerges from the police investigation. In the body of the 60-year-old man while he was in the hospital, 47 days before he breathed his last at home from pathological – as they said at the time – reasons, many sedatives were found.
When mercury was found in the ears of the 60-year-old man while he was in the hospital, toxicology tests were also carried out, where the active substance found in the sedatives TAVOR, which was given passed at least 5 times while he was in the hospital, found in increasing levels. The hospital assured that it was not granted, and the only visitors were found to be the wife and the eldest son.
He had brought two bags of sedatives to the hospital
The 50-year-old has reportedly admitted to bringing two bags of sedatives to the hospital, but denies giving them to her husband.
“In ’18 he called me from time to time without telling me anything. So that he listens to me. He was not in good shape. And I also learned from his wife that he was indeed served and returned home. He was in a bad situation, that’s the truth, he had financial problems and he must have been taking medication,” said a relative of the 60-year-old.
It was the phone call to the authorities that led to the 50-year-old finally being charged with murdering her husband in June 2023 with enough evidence for the prosecutor to reopen the case.
“There is no cure for mercury poisoning”
Michalis Chalaris, assistant professor of Chemistry at Democritus University, speaking to Live News, explained that mercury is a heavy metal and toxic substance, which affects many vital organs and systems, such as nervous, immune and digestive people.
As soon as mercury enters the human body in some way, it is distributed directly to the hematopoietic system. The expert also clarified that there is no cure for mercury poisoning.
