The witches collected the money at a time when it was not yet known how long the pandemic would paralyze the country, as head witch Andrea Hoffmann-Schulz reports: “The money comes from the 2020 collection. The donation was only possible because of Corona will now be handed over. ”At the ceremonial meetings of the Grünstadt settler community in January and February 2020, the first euros ended up in the milk can, later also at the meetings of TuS Sausenheim. The witches are a fixed item on the agenda of the meetings.
The most important day for witches is Old Women Thursday. After the storming of the town hall, the women from Sausenheim surprise the children at school and in the daycare center. Banks, wineries and shops are “robbed” and drivers who pass the toll booth on Leiningerstraße are asked to pay. “For years now, many donors have come to the toll station to donate to a good cause,” reports Hoffmann-Schulz. The association Open Youth Work in Leiningerland was able to benefit from this. Doris Matheis from the association and chairman Klaus Wagner accepted the money last week, reports Hoffmann-Schulz.
The Haus der Jugend is one of 10 institutions of the open youth work in Leiningerland and has been offering children and young people leisure activities and holiday programs for 40 years. Learning support offers support children with learning problems and should help to achieve more equality of opportunity. In the corona lockdown, the employees accompanied homeschooling and looked after children with their homework in 1: 1 situations. The employees of the Haus der Jugend are available to children and young people in crisis situations, school problems, questions about training and all everyday needs.
Extended opening times in Advent
The opening times of the Haus der Jugend are: Monday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. From now on there are special activities every Friday from 2pm to 6pm in the “Kindertreff”, in the coming weeks handicraft activities for Christmas decorations and Christmas gifts are on the agenda. Pre-registration is not required, participation is free. As a special “pre-Christmas present”, the Haus der Jugend also opens on Saturdays, December 4th and 18th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The children can play, do handicrafts and be creative here.
