Kozhikode: The assistant of the accused, who was arrested for sexually assaulting a young woman on the grounds of witchcraft in Kundamangalam, has also been arrested. Safoora (41) was arrested in Palamkot. The main accused Malappuram Cavanur Abdurrahman was arrested yesterday. He was produced in court and remanded. The complaint against Abdur Rahman is that he called a 19-year-old girl to a lodge room in Madavur and tortured her in the name of witchcraft treatment.
The complaint against Safoora is that she gave all kinds of cooperation and help in the torture. Safoora was taken into custody on the basis of Atijeetha’s statement. After admitting the crime, the accused was arrested.
The girl was called to the lodge saying that her stomach ache would be relieved. The woman came here with her husband. However, they were taken inside the lodge with Safoora to avoid any suspicion. Meanwhile, Safoora explained the treatment to the girl. However, the complaint is that Abdurrahman tortured them after bringing them inside the lodge.
The police informed that it is suspected that Abdur Rahman has tortured more people in the same way. Abdurrahman used to approach people in the name of solving the health problems of women and children. After reaching the lodge or other places, the intoxicating liquid is given. With this, girls who become unconscious will be sexually abused.
The fraud went on for a long time because most people did not disclose the information for fear of embarrassment. In 2019, Abdur Rahman was arrested for torturing a minor girl in Karipur.
