Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Witan Sulaeman officially a part Persija Jakarta after leaving Slovak club AS Trencin.
Witan is the last name registered by Persija to navigate the tight competition in the second round of League 1 2022/2023.
The Indonesian national team player is the fifth player brought in by the Kemayoran Tigers to fill in the depth of coach Thomas Doll’s squad.
“Witan will strengthen Persija for the next 3.5 years or 42 months,” said Persija’s official statement.
However, it is not known whether Witan was brought in free of charge or through a transfer mechanism. The player from Palu is known to have received a two-year contract at Trencin, which means that it will only expire in June 2024.
While at AS Trencin, Witan played 14 times, with a record of four goals in 458 minutes of play.
Apart from having a good record during his career at club level, Witan is also a member of the Indonesian national team.
Witan made his debut in the national team at the age of 15 years and seven months when he defended the U-19 Indonesian national team. Until now, Witan has presented the 2019 AFF U-22 Cup, 2019 SEA Games silver medal, and 2020 AFF Cup runner up.
Witan followed in the footsteps of Egy Maulana Vikri, who also decided to return to his career in Indonesia. The day before, Egy, who had played with Witan at FK Senica, officially wore the Dewa United uniform.
