We defeat Miedź in ten!
In the match of the 29th round of Fortuna 1 Liga, Wisła Płock defeated Miedź Legnica 2:1 (0:1). Just before the break, Wiktor Bogacz scored for the guests, Marcus Haglind-Sangre equalized in the 47th minute, and Emile Thiakane scored in the 57th minute. The Oilers finished the match with ten players after two yellow cards for Łukasz Sekulski in the 53rd minute.
The initial parts of the meeting can be considered quite interesting. Already in the fourth minute it could have been, and even should have been, 1-0 for the guests, when Fryderyk Gerbowski’s too naive pass in our penalty area was intercepted by Iban Salvador, who passed the ball into an empty goal to Wiktor Bogacz, who missed the ball while sliding. A moment later, on the other side of the field, Emile Thiakane decided to shoot from 20 meters, but his precision was definitely lacking. Miedź, on the other hand, created two dangerous situations – first, in a one-on-one situation with Bartłomiej Gradecki, Bogacz put the ball in the net, but earlier he clearly missed it, and then, after an interception in the middle of the field, Iwo Kaczmarski dynamically entered our penalty area, whose slide was blocked by Marcus Haglind in time. -Sangre. In response, Thiakane hit Jakub Mądrzyk’s goal again and this time the Legnica goalkeeper was forced to intervene. After almost a quarter of an hour of play, Marcin Biernat clearly overshot in a difficult situation, and then the pace of the game slowed down a bit, although both sides tried to attack. In the 18th minute, Kamil Antonik’s cross from a corner kick could have surprised Gradecki, but he remained alert and punched the ball as it was turning. Later, Ivan Salvador’s pass failed to find the recipient (it seems that the Guinean could have decided to shoot himself), and on the other side, Mateusz Szwoch centered the free kick too deep. Before half an hour of the game, Fabian Spanish was close to receiving Gerbowski’s cross, and we waited for the next more dangerous situation until the 38th minute, when Bogacz received a nice pass into the penalty area, but, having a sharp angle to shoot, he was effectively stopped by Haglind-Sangre and Gradecki. Just before the end of the first half, Jarosław Jach made a slight mistake with his head, and in response, the guests opened the scoring when Bogacz finally scored in our goal just before the whistle.
After the break, Kocyła was replaced by Gerbowski. Just as the first half ended with a goal, the second half actually started with one. Marcus Haglind-Sangre converted Szwoch’s cross from a corner kick in the 47th minute. After a few moments, there was an argument between the players of both teams on the pitch, which resulted in Łukasz Sekulski receiving two yellow cards and, consequently, a red card. The Oilers, playing with ten players, took the lead in the 57th minute! Mądrzyk managed to deflect a good shot from Mateusz Szwoch’s free kick, but Thiakane was helpless against Emil Thiakane’s rebound, and the Senegalese scored his first goal in the blue-white-blue colors. In the following minutes, the game became a bit more intense and was full of fouls and erratic play. A quarter of an hour before the end, Gradecki intervened twice, and Jach decided to try from several dozen meters, which could surprise the opposing goalkeeper. Later, Jurich Carolina tried over the goal, and Miedź’s cross attempts were dealt with by the Oilers’ defense or they landed in the safe hands of Gradecki. Despite six added minutes, the team from Płock did not allow their rivals to have a clean situation and neutralized the threat in front of their goal until the end, ultimately achieving the victory.
The Oilers will play their next match away on Monday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. Their opponent in the 30th round of Fortuna 1 Liga will be Chrobry Głogów. In turn, we will meet at the ORLEN Stadium on May 2 at 3:00 p.m., when we will host Motor Lublin.
