Wisła Kraków has been hit with layoffs. Kazimierz Moskal has also been fired

Wisła Kraków is doing hopelessly in the Betclic 1st League and is in the relegation zone. Such poor results of the club resulted in the dismissal of coach Kazimierz Moskal. He… and not only him. Several heads have also fallen from their positions, including the very devoted to the team and liked by many manager Jarosław Krzoska.

Wisła Kraków fired its coach

15 matches. Kazimierz Moskal led Wisła Kraków in the 2024/25 season in the exact same way. He had a few positive moments – especially in the European cups, but the main accusation is that 16th place in the league is simply not appropriate. The “White Star” is already 15 points behind the direct promotion zone at this stage. Yes, you have to take into account the postponed matches, but the balance of 1-3-3 is not one that would satisfy the fans, Jarosław Królewski and certainly Kazimierz Moskal himself.

The last three rounds of Betclic 1. Liga were a draw with Kotwica Kołobrzeg (1:1) and defeats with Warta Poznań (0:1) and ŁKS Łódź (1:3). The third match in particular did not impress with its style. From positive memories, the victory in a murderous penalty shootout with Spartak Trnava or the scaring of Cercle Brugge away, where they managed to win 4:1, when no one bet on the “White Star”. The problem, however, are the results in the league. In the last round, Wisła Kraków did not play their match, because it was postponed at the request of Chrobry Głogów due to the flood situation.

There were other layoffs. Royal vs Royal

After the match with the Poznań team, Jarosław Królewski, the owner of the club, was called to the fans’ stand. First, he had to listen to bitter words, and then he had an emotional conversation with the ardent fans. The fan who took the microphone in his hand said in short that this cannot be the case and that the players’ salaries should be cut, of course interrupting each sentence with the word “k***”:

I need your support now. And I will go to the locker room, and I will not scold them. Do you understand?! I will not scold them today (…) Give them time, at least once give them time (…) Today is a difficult moment for us, do you understand? We have to go to the next match and give support to these guys. These gentlemen can play – Królewski replied into the microphone.

Jarosław Królewski wrote after the defeat to Warta that Kazimierz Moskal, the staff and the players need time and that he trusts them 100%. However, one more defeat to ŁKS was enough and the same Królewski… fires the staff, because there have been so many dismissals that it’s mind-boggling. On Monday, September 23, Wisła Kraków officially announced the departures:

  • first coach Kazimierz Moskal
  • Kazimierz Moskal’s assistant Marcin Pogorzała
  • the legendary team manager Jarosław Krzosek, whom she wished on the occasion of the “Manager’s Day” just three days ago
  • long-time physiotherapist Marcin Bisztyga
  • director of the academy Krzysztof Kołaczyk

The unsuccessful return of the Muscovite

Kazimierz Moskal’s return was received with enthusiasm. He was welcomed with a beautiful message to the tune of “I like to go back to places I’ve already been” Zbigniew Wodecki. After the end of the 2023/24 season, the president of Wisła Kraków, Jarosław Królewski, wanted to continue working with Rude, but the Spaniard was not willing to do so. The club said goodbye to many players, including Szymon Sobczak and Michał Żyra. However, they managed to sensationally and unexpectedly retain Angel Rodado.

Moskal was an assistant to such coaches as Henryk Kasperczak and Robert Maaskant. At the turn of 2011 and 2012 he was a temporary coach, and in 2015 he was already a full-fledged coach of the first team. He led it in 32 matches, but recorded a poor balance of 8-16-8 and after a defeat in the derby he was said goodbye. In recent years he has been mainly associated with another club. Namely, he managed ŁKS Łódź twice, with which he won promotion to the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. In Łódź, at that time, Jakub Dziółka started to achieve good results, who at the beginning of the season was also close to being fired.
