Four goals, a red card, controversy, emotions. In the last match of the 5th round of the 1st league, Wisła Kraków and Arka Gdynia scored two goals and won a point each.
A minute of silence was observed in memory of Franciszek Smuda, who died on 18 August at the age of 76. Jhis black and white framed photo stood by the home team’s bench throughout the matchand the players played with black armbands. The fans chanted the name and surname of the outstanding coach, and a banner with the words “Franciszek Smuda. Rest in peace” was hung in sector C.
And then the match began, like hundreds of others played by teams led by the coach from Lubomia near Wodzisław Śląski. The match he demanded from his players: intense, with pressing, showing off the utility technique, exciting. In the 13th minute, Angel Rodado didn’t have the best position to shoot, but recently he’s been good at almost everything. And he did well, because he kicked the ball so much from over 25 meters that Paweł Lenarcik was helpless. The Cracovians had a few more chances before the break, but they didn’t use them – just like in the second half against Spartak Trnava on Thursday. Arka attacked less, Anton Cziczkan wasn’t as burdened with work, but if it wasn’t for his intervention with his legs, Hide Vitalucci would have been happy with the equalizer.

Two doubles
The second half brought two quick goals. First, Rodado took advantage of the fact that his opponents had given him some space and carried out an individual action. Arka returned to the game after a corner kick by the Cracovians and a counterattack. Angel Baena was returning too slowly, and the speeding Joano Oliveira passed Rafał Mikulec like an express train passing a train of wagons filled with coal. The goal gave Arka a boost, which was better, and only a lack of luck (skill?) prevented it from being 2:2 sooner. Additionally, Krakow residents returned to collecting red cards. Wiktor Bidrzycki for the second time in his short adventure with Wisła, this time for two yellow cards.
Shortly after the defender left, the forces could have been equalized. Martin Dobrotka pulled Piotr Starzyński rushing towards the goal, the referee applied the advantage, and Rodado hit the crossbar. Sebastian Jarzębak checked the situation on VAR and drew a card for the visiting player, but only a yellow one, and Lenarcik restarted play from the goal. In the 84th minute, Oliveira took advantage of the hosts’ weakness and equalized from the penalty area, where Wisła was unable to clean up.
