Wisconsin hospital pharmacist arrested for sabotaging more than 500 doses of coronavirus vaccine

US police have arrested a pharmacist accused of having removed around 50 vials of Covid-19 vaccine from Moderna laboratories from the refrigerator of a hospital in Wisconsin (United States), reports CNN. Each vial containing ten doses of coronavirus vaccine.

Authorities said the individual provided facility officials with a written statement indicating that he intentionally removed the vials. As of the middle of last week, the pharmacist is no longer an employee of the hospital. In particular, the suspect is suspected of falsifying a prescription drug and of property damage.

The United States granted emergency authorization for Moderna’s vaccine against Covid-19 on Friday, December 18. The vaccine, of which the US government has pre-purchased 200 million doses (compared to 100 million at Pfizer), is 94.1% effective, according to a synthesis of data from Moderna by the FDA.
