The National Media Council rejected the application to announce an open competition for the position of TVP president, Wirtualna Polska learned. – Despite pressure from the environment of the president and prime minister, Jacek Kurski can be sure of his function – our informants from the ruling formation tell us.
As Wirtualna Polska learns, one of the members of the National Media Council – former president of TVP Juliusz Braun – at the meeting of the Council on Thursday, May 27, submitted an application for the announcement of open competitions for the positions of the president and board member of TVP and members of supervisory boards of public media companies. The request also concerned the supervisory board of the Polish Press Agency.
– Their terms will formally expire soon. The National Media Council rejected my application today, Juliusz Braun told us.
As we hear, Robert Kwiatkowski (representative of the Left) voted in favor of Braun’s motion to organize open competitions. Krzysztof Czabański and Elżbieta Kruk (PiS representatives) were against. Interestingly, Joanna Lichocka, PiS MP and National Media Council member abstained from voting.
– The application did not get a majority, so it was lost. The chairman of RMN, Krzysztof Czabański, stated that the competitions create unnecessary problems and are not required by the act – Braun reports.
