Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said just before the presidential election that “the coronavirus is in retreat.” When suddenly in Poland day after day we have more disease records, the head of government is not so optimistic.
At the turn of June and July, when PiS encouraged numerous participation in the presidential elections, the prime minister argued that “the coronavirus is in retreat.” – I am glad that we are less and less afraid of this epidemic and this virus. And this is a good approach, ladies and gentlemen, because he is in retreat. You don’t need to be afraid of him now. You have to go to the elections on July 12, there is nothing to be afraid of – said Mateusz Morawiecki at the rally in Tomaszów Lubelski.
It turned out, however, that the situation was still very bad. In the end of the week in Poland, new disease records were set day by day. There were as many as 658 of them on Saturday. This is a record for a pandemic. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health announced that in the last 24 hours. 548 new cases were confirmed. 10 people have died. The prime minister has apparently also changed his mind about the coronavirus.
