It concerns the company Womanerion that, among other things, allows robots for warehouses to charge wirelessly instead of with a traditional plug. It also seems to be changing its name to ‘Tesla Engineering Germany’, or at least that’s what the company’s website now states.
There had been contacts between the Germans and the Americans for a long time, but the sale had not been confirmed until now. According to Autoweek, Tesla has put 70 million euros on the table. For example, inductive charging would make it possible to park cars above a platform without plugging them in.
A disadvantage is that wireless charging is usually slower than with a plug and is less efficient than plug charging, so you lose some energy. But it can, for example, be a solution in large public car parks, or in places where you only stop for a moment, such as in the parking lot of a supermarket.
