EY’s auditors suspect that Wirecard already invented huge sales in 2018. All attention is now directed to the ex-board member Jan Marsalek.

For a while, Jan Marsalek still gave the impression that he would face the prosecutors. The former board and chief operating officer of Wirecard AG were said to be in the Philippines and would quickly return to Munich to answer questions from the public prosecutor. But either from the start, this was just a diversion that Marsalek wanted to save time with. Or he has changed his mind in the past few days when it became more and more obvious what damage Wirecard had caused under his responsibility – for employees, for shareholders and for creditors.
