The training market in North Rhine-Westphalia has changed significantly as a result of Corona: Many young people are still looking for an apprenticeship position, and companies, especially in the craft sector, are still looking for trainees. In order to show young people a wide range of opportunities and possibilities when starting their professional life, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has set out together with the partners in the North Rhine-Westphalia training consensus. In the summer of 2020, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia provided the regions with funds for public relations as part of the state campaign “Training Now!”. In addition, funds from the European Social Fund (ESF) are used.
How can these young people be reached quickly and efficiently through their preferred communication channels? The Regional Training Conference (RAK) and the Advisory Board for Regional Employment Promotion in the Middle Ruhr Area at the regional agency have decided on a so-called landing page. This is the end of October Website launched at. The site is a non-commercial offer from all partners and supports young people in obtaining comprehensive information about offers and opportunities on the training market.
“All of the labor market players in the Central Ruhr Region have a common goal: They want to create even more clarity and clarity for students, parents and teaching staff so that applicants can find precisely fitting positions in trade, trade or industry”, explains Kerstin Groß, as IHK competence field manager of the Regional training conference Middle Ruhr area. In addition to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the conference participants include the Chamber of Crafts and the District Craftsmen’s Associations, the Employers’ Associations Ruhr / Westphalia and the DGB, the employment agencies and job centers, as well as the municipal coordination offices “No graduation without connection”, the regional agency and the municipalities of Bochum and Herne as well as Witten and Hattingen as part of the Ennepe-Ruhr district.
The landing page offers a wide range of information and guides – bundled for the entire labor market region – like a guide through the offer: training fairs and events, consulting and scouting formats as well as matching portals to bring applicants for internships and apprenticeships together with companies and institutions. “Everything is not perfect on the site yet, but we’re working on it. We are very happy to receive tips, requests and event information, ”says Keven Forbrig, head of the Central Ruhr Regional Agency, which is responsible for maintaining the website.
The website is an important part of the regional training conference’s cross-media campaign for vocational training. A YouTube video by the young filmmaker Urs Kessler was produced especially for www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfyfISlSxIU is available and is also posted on Instagram and Facebook.
