Wiranto Reveals His Failed Attempt to Become Vice President in 2009 Presidential Election.

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Wiranto mbring up himself who failed to become vice president. This happened when he was partnered with Jusuf Kalla in the 2009 presidential election.

This was conveyed by Wiranto in a halalbihalal event held by the Association of Indonesian Muslim Scholars (ICMI) at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (12/5/2023). Initially, Wiranto said he was lucky to be following ICMI’s developments so far.

“I am fortunate to be able to follow the development of ICMI from its establishment until now,” said Wiranto in his presentation.

Wiranto also said he was lucky because his fate was better than in the past. One of them is his current position as Wantimpres.

“And lucky again as a Muslim, my fate is better than in the past. Formerly a Colonel, now General. Previously aide to the president, then became an adviser to the president. There has been an increase,” said Wiranto.

Wiranto then alluded to the moment when he lost the 2009 presidential election. “But I can’t be the vice president, my destiny is not to go there. So when I was with Mr. Jusuf Kalla, I was like, what did I do, it didn’t happen, oh, thank God,” he said.
