the essentials in brief

  • The lunch box steasy can warm up lunch without electricity.
  • After difficulties with the supply chain, interested parties can now order the product.
  • The microwave queues and aggressive reheating processes are now over.

While studying at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the founding trio came up with the idea of the portable mini steamer. Because they had wasted a lot of their lunch break queuing at the microwave. Since then, with great inventiveness, they have developed a solution that not only saves lunchtime, but also midday.

Startup wants to save time and food

The portable mini-steamer Steasy from the startup Nexenic warms up each dish individually: The pre-cooked dishes retain their taste and nutrients as best as possible. Steasy’s software ensures that the reheating process matches the dish. In addition, users can schedule Steasy via the accompanying app so that the warm-up is ready when the lunch break begins.

“Thus, Steasy not only offers real added value to students, but also to health-conscious office workers, field staff or craftsmen who spend their lunch break on the construction site.” That explains co-founder and CEO, Claudio Ruiz.

Milestone after milestone

The first milestone has been reached: the final prototype is up and has survived the testing phase. “After a challenging period in which the international supply chain was particularly difficult for electronic parts, it means a lot to us that we can now start series production and pre-sales.” So adds Reto Muhl, responsible for electronics and software.
