In one of the scenes in the wildly popular Netflix series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, which is set in the sixties, the main character Beth Harmon wears a crisp white winter outfit. We have recreated the elegant retro look. Just in time for the holidays indoors or out.

If you want to wear white, according to stylist Jody Van Geert you check which shade suits your face best. “Not everyone is stark white, but cream white might be a good choice. In a tone-on-tone look you can play with different shades. If all white is too much of a good thing, wear a top in a bright color underneath. Or go for the timeless match with black. When choosing shoes – from pumps to sneakers – you can take the color of your top into account. ”
Does white make you look heavier? “Not necessarily,” says Jody. “Everything depends on the cut. With the right fit, white is perfect, regardless of your size. Are you on the small side? Then go for long, straight trousers that optically extend your silhouette. ”
A tip for those who do not immediately want to copy the outfit from the series, but want to give the style and white boots a chance: combine with a flowy dress with print and a leather jacket. Or go for a turtleneck and mini skirt. The white boots underneath make the looks the whole 60s in one fell swoop. In the autumn this look was a real hit on the streets of major fashion cities, thanks in part to Quentin Tarantino’s hit ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. In it, Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate and wears white knee boots.
