In the case of cancer, heart, stomach and bowel diseases and accidental injuries, nothing works without blood supplies. And the need will continue to increase, said Winterbach Mayor Sven Müller when honoring multiple blood donors. They are people “who help other people survive or are given a second life”. The need can only be met by many, many blood donations.
There are always dates for this, for example in March these:

“Important to attract first-time donors”
“It is essential to continue to donate blood and to encourage other people as well,” said Mayor Sven Müller at the blood donation ceremony. “It is also particularly important to attract first-time donors, because experience has shown that the majority of first-time donors come back to donate blood again.”
This week, Müller honored twelve residents in Winterbach who have often donated blood, one of them 100 times.
The mayor praised: “You have already integrated blood donations into your everyday life and are therefore a role model for our society.” One could “speak of a special kind of charity”.
Don’t wait for others to donate blood
Müller thanked the donors “for thinking along with you and also thinking about your fellow human beings and not waiting for others to regulate everything or will already regulate everything” and “that you see a need and do something about it, because our society can only continue to do well work when there are people like you who are particularly committed”.
Without blood donations, countless sick people and accident victims would have to die and operations would not be possible, says Sven Müller: “You, dear blood donors, do your part to ensure that, for example, a sick child can smile again or a seriously ill adult can walk again.”
To date, there is no alternative to donating blood, as blood still cannot be produced artificially. According to Sven Müller, the demand for blood products will continue to rise because the proportion of patients in advanced age and complex surgical procedures will increase in the coming years.
The six DRK blood donation services in Germany carry out around 38,000 blood donation appointments on a voluntary basis each year. “As a key pillar of the German health system, they ensure that the supply of donor blood is guaranteed,” said the mayor of Winterbach. He therefore also thanked the volunteers who work at the donation dates.
