RTV NoordGeert Veltman shifts one of his 150 clocks

Winter time started tonight. At 3 a.m. (summer time), the clock was – as every year – set back one hour to what is formally standard time.
As a result, it gets light an hour earlier in the morning and it gets dark an hour earlier in the evening. Other countries in Europe also switched to winter time last night.
On most telephones and electronic equipment, the clock automatically goes back one hour. But on old clocks this has to be done by hand.
Geert Veldman spends a lot of time on this, because he has 150 clocks at home:

The Netherlands has had two different times since 1977. Later this was arranged this way throughout Europe.
The European Commission wanted to stop the scheme in 2018. A European summer time survey showed that a majority of participants wanted to get rid of clock changes. The change of times would be bad for people’s biorhythms. But ultimately the plan was shelved.
