Winter Storm in North Texas: Cold Updates and Resources. | Your City Univision 23 Dallas

FORT WORTH, Texas. – A power outage at the water treatment plant caused the pressure of the drinking water reaching North Fort Worth homes to be below the levels required by environmental authorities.

For this reason, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is asking the City of Fort Worth to notify customers to boil water before consuming it, such as whether to drink it, wash hands, face, or brush teeth, etc.

In addition, children, the elderly and people with weak immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, which is why authorities advise everyone to follow these instructions.

❄️ To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, drinking, cooking, and ice-making water must be boiled and cooled prior to use either for drinking or for human consumption.

❄️ The water should be brought to a vigorous boil and then boiled for two minutes.

❄️ If unable to boil it, people can purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other source suitable for drinking or personal consumption.

❄️ Once boiling water is no longer required, public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe and can be drunk or consumed for personal use.

❄️ Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, authorities will notify the city and customers.

❄️ Authorities also ask that you share this information with all other people who have not received this notice, such as people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses.
