Erie County Policy Manager Mark Poloncarz said Friday that the death toll in New York, United States (USA) has risen to 39 as winter storm Elliot hits the country.

“The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office reports that there are no new deaths from the blizzard and all previously unidentified bodies have now been identified,” the official said.
Additionally, of the total number of fatalities, the majority were reported in the city of Buffalo, the major county.

Poloncarz also noted that the crews that carry out cleaning work on the roads are maintained, particularly in Buffalo, and urged the population to maintain caution while driving.
Nationwide, more than 50 deaths have been reported so far from Winter Storm Elliot.
There have also been power outages, looting of shops, cancellations and flight delays at dozens of airports.
