Winter Season Vaccination Campaign: Influenza, Covid, and Pneumococcus Protection in Durango 2024

During the winter season considered from October 16 to March 31, 2024, three vaccines will be applied to protect the population from Acute Respiratory Infections; Influenza, Covid and Pneumococcus, the first of them contemplates greater coverage in the state with a goal of 149,900 doses for the entire health sector, although to date there is progress close to 10%, as detailed by Dr. Felipe Solis.

The director of Health Services in the entity clarified that for the application of this biological, the aforementioned advance is for the entire sector that includes IMSSS, ISSSTE SEDENA and the Ministry of Health itself; which represents that to date 14,896 people have been vaccinated and only with regard to the Ministry of Health in Durango it is 54%.

He explained that the Influenza vaccine is recommended for children under 5 years of age and over 60, even those who suffer from comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension or immunosuppression. Regarding Covid, it is aimed at the open population and there is no established goal.

The three vaccines are available in Health Sector units, from General Hospitals, health centers and expanded services. In addition, it is available at various strategic points where the population can access them, the official said.

The recommendation is that for those who suffer from a flu condition, do not apply it until the symptoms disappear, but it is also important not to self-medicate if you have any illness of this type.

He reiterated that the anti-Covid vaccine is for the entire population, in the case of the Pneumococcus vaccine it is indicated for older adults over 60 years of age or those who suffer from any comorbidity.
