It will be slippery on both the main and side roads in both Eastern Norway and Western Norway on Tuesday morning, warns the Norwegian Traffic Center.

This also applies to the E6 towards Oslo.
People are asked to feel the conditions before getting into their cars to go to work on Tuesday morning.
Both in Eastern Norway and Western Norway it is so cold that sand and salt do not help.
– There is no point in spreading sand on E6. So it will be smooth, says traffic operator Thale Eikeset in the Vegtrafikksentralen east to NTB.
– The contractor who owns Stor-Oslo has said that they will go out and sprinkle magnesium. But it’s going to be smooth, so you have to be prepared for that, says Eikeset.
It is only on the largest roads – such as the E6 – that magnesium is used.
Smoothly outside Bergen
In Western Norway, the Norwegian Road Traffic Center also asks people to drive carefully.
You don’t have to go that far outside the center of Bergen before you find areas where it is now so cold that salt and sand don’t help on the smooth roads, says traffic operator Jørgen Bødtker at the Vegtrafikksentralen west.
It can get slippery on the side roads there.
– Feel free to know what the conditions are like tomorrow morning when you go to work. We have been very lucky in the Bergen area with good weather. But where there is shade, it will be cold and can be experienced as very slippery, says Bødtker to NTB on Monday evening.
He says that the Norwegian Road Administration’s contractors say that it does not help to add salt when it is below minus 12. The sand is blown away, and firm sand has nothing to stick to.
– Contractors have been out and measured friction, so the road meets the standard. But someone who is not used to driving on winter roads may find it very slippery. Especially someone who drives spike-free can experience it as very smooth, says Bødtker.
