There are winter holiday queues both in the Oslo area and in Trøndelag on Friday afternoon. In the west, it is mostly calm, while it is the weather that creates trouble in the north.

– There is a lot of traffic now because there are many in Eastern Norway who start their winter holidays this weekend. So there’s a lot of queuing. In addition, there have been some small accidents, says traffic operator Mette Brunes in Vegtrafikksentralen Øst to VG at 16.30 on Friday.
There is a queue from Oslo north on the E6, and a queue south from Sandvika to Sollihøgda and further up towards Sundvollen.
In addition, there is as usual a queue down from Lierskogen towards Drammen on E18.
Most accidents have occurred in the Oslo area. There are four or five incidents in the last few hours.
– But with queues from before, and then you get some incidents in traffic as well, then there will be longer queues, and it takes longer before they dissolve, says Brunes.
Around 4.30 pm, there is one ongoing incident in Oslo near Mortensrud in the direction of Ryen. Two cars are involved in a rear-end collision.
Brunes are also waiting in line for the evening, as well as tomorrow.
– Apart from the accidents that have happened now, the traffic has gone well. Not so much more than on a normal Friday, she says.
Accumulated in Trøndelag
In Trøndelag, there was a bit of a traffic accident just during rush hour on the E6 between Trondheim and Stjørdal / Værnes on Friday afternoon, including a traffic accident at Leirstad in the direction of Værnes. In addition, there have been four car stops between Trondheim and Stjørdal that happened at about the same time.
– It was a bit hectic for a while now the last couple of hours. Typically it happens in the middle of rush hour. But we opened the last tunnel between Trondheim and Stjørdal now. So now nothing is going on, but there is still a lot of queue, says traffic operator Frank Nilsen at Vegtrafikksentralen Midt i 17-tid on Friday afternoon.
In Trøndelag, the winter holiday outing has spread over the last few days. Nilsen is therefore not expecting a particularly hectic weekend. Some snow showers have been reported over the weekend, but probably not something that creates major problems on the road.
– There has been a little more traffic than a normal Friday, but not so much, Nilsen says.
Quiet in the west
In the west, there is no winter holiday until next week for most people. There is a bit of a queue towards Voss and the mountains. There have been some minor accidents, but no more than normal.
– There has not been that much traffic today. A little weekend outing towards the mountains, but it seems that things are going well now, says traffic operator Marianne Hove at Vegtrafikksentralen Vest.
In Finnmark, it is the weather that creates trouble on the roads, not winter holiday outings.
None of the roads are particularly busy, but situations can arise as a result of the weather conditions.
– It is weather and wind around Finnmark. Snowdrifts in several places lead to difficult driving conditions with reduced visibility and jib shovels in the roadway, says traffic operator Bente Nyland at Vegtrafikksentralen Nord.
Eight roads have column driving, and two roads are completely closed in Finnmark. In Nordland and Troms, traffic is more or less normal.
