Winter doesn’t go away. And Monday’s cold won’t be the last frost of the week in North Texas.
A cold front that arrived on Sunday night is responsible for the frigid temperatures on Monday. There was even sleet in some places in the North Texas region.
But this precipitation is on its way out, although cold air will continue to arrive. These are northerly winds that will stay until noon and the clouds will dissipate, giving way to the sun. This will allow reaching the 50s, explained meteorologist Grant Johnston, of NBC5 (KXAS-TV).
This cold weather pattern will continue for the next several days, explained Johnston, who recommended protecting spring plants if they are just planted with an eye toward spring. Highs through the week will hit the 70s by Thursday, before arrival of another cold front, Johnson anticipated.
“The chances of rain will return on Thursday, with the passage of a strong cold front, with the possibility of a winter mixture in parts of North Texas,” warned the National Weather Service.
