The massive vaccination process against influenza is part of the winter campaign of the Ministry of Health. The initiative is aimed at priority groups, given their greater vulnerability to the presence of the virus.
Influenza is an acute, highly infectious respiratory disease. The pathology mainly affects the nose, throat, bronchi and occasionally the lungs. People with some underlying disease are potentially at greater risk of respiratory disease.
Every year, thousands of deaths are registered, due to health complications caused by influenza. Therefore, the Government implements the annual vaccination process to prevent the occurrence of critical cases.
Where to get vaccinated and dates
The influenza vaccine is free for the target group and is available in all public and private vaccinatories in agreement. The Family Health Centers (CESFAM) also carry out scheduled visits to schools, high schools, schools and kindergartens, and the dates have been duly informed by the educational establishments to the families.
Initially, the campaign would run from March 15 to May 17, 2023 and/or until the 85% vaccination goal is met nationwide. In this regard, one fact is also key: the influenza and covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccines can be administered at the same time.
