Stranger Thingsactress Winona Ryder defended Johnny Depp, who she was engaged to from 1990 to 1993, in an affidavit against domestic violence allegations by Amber Heard. This is evident from documents that came into possession of The Blast.
In a statement filed with a US court, Ryder said that she was “absolutely shocked, confused, and upset” by the charges against Depp, and that she therefore considered it necessary to speak on behalf of Depp.
“I consider our relationship to be one of the most important relationships in my life,” Ryder wrote. “I am aware that I speak from my own experience.”
She continued, “Obviously I was not there during his marriage to Amber, but from my experience, which was so vastly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the charges against him. The idea that he was an incredibly violent person is by no means the Johnny I knew and loved. I can’t get my head around these accusations. “
Ryder added, “He’s never been violent or offensive to anyone I’ve seen. I really only know him as a good man – an incredibly loving, extremely caring man who was so very protective of me and the people he loved and I felt very safe with him. “
Depp is still involved in a lawsuit with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, whom he accuses of defamation. Heard would in an article in The Washington Post lashed out at her ex-husband.
