Winners of two tenders announced by VNĪ have waived the right to conclude a contract – in Latvia – News

It has already been reported that both applicants for the first stage of the Tobacco Factory quarter – JSC “UPB” and SIA “Pillar Contractor” – abandoned the implementation of the plan due to the unexpectedly sharp rise in construction material prices, rising significant energy costs and inflation. A new procurement has been announced.

A similar thing happened in the procurement for the establishment of a prototyping workshop “Riga Makerspace”. SIA “Selva būve”, which won the tender, waived the right to enter into an agreement in connection with the changed market situation and the redirection of the planned workforce to other objects.

The results of this procurement will be known at the beginning of November, as other bidders’ applications are currently being evaluated.

VNĪ informs that in three of the other four procurements announced in the spring, construction contracts have been concluded – for increasing the energy efficiency of the Puppet Theater, establishment of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Decoration Workshops and Rehearsal Hall Complex and improvement works of Daile Theater Square.

Renārs Griškevičs, Chairman of the Board of VNĪ, previously pointed out that VNĪ follows the situation in the construction sector and is ready for the updated development of procurement requirements in projects where it is objectively necessary due to public procurement regulations.

“Currently, there are no indications that it would be necessary to make radical changes in the procurement process of construction works – the execution of state construction orders and the progress of projects is generally successful,” said Griškevičs.

Last year, 17 nationally significant development projects with a total budget of 29.5 million euros were completed in the conditions of the pandemic under the leadership of VNĪ.

VNĪ was founded in 1996, its 100% shareholder is the Ministry of Finance.
