Cédric Vidal, Cabriérois, created his company Trek Évasion in 2016. The activity of this professional naturalist guide with fifteen years of experience aims at tourism centered on the discovery of nature and respect for the environment.
His company was also rewarded for its innovation and its involvement in sustainable development by obtaining the DéDé 2020, organized by Nîmes Métropole. By helping to create new activities, services, products, processes or to improve activities, Nîmes Métropole wishes to help support initiatives that will lead the region towards more efficient, responsible and exemplary development.
What were your motivations for competing in DéDé 2020?
I thought I could do it because, in order to sustainably improve the existing ecotourism offer at the local level, I offer thematic circuits by electric bike at the scale of the Nîmes metropolis, circuits to discover natural environments, in particular of scrubland, by providing naturalist mediation on the specific landscape, fauna and flora of our territory.
Why the electric bicycle?
This gentle mode of travel is arousing growing interest from residents and tourists who wish to practice local tourism, while limiting their impact on the environment and the sometimes fragile natural environments they cross.
This approach is still very little developed in our territory and offers interesting economic potential. Above all, this allows new audiences to be made aware of the environment in a different way.
What is your objective ?
The objective of the company is, initially, to offer rides on electric bikes in order to discover the natural and cultural riches of the metropolis of Nîmes thanks to a guide of hiking and naturalist activities with qualifications in ornithology and in botany, relying on local resources and their expertise (naturalist associations, guards of the Mixed Syndicate of the Gorges du Gardon, etc.).
In a second step, the objective will be to develop significantly, in order to be able to establish an ecotourism offer throughout the year to perpetuate a sustainable activity in a rural sector of the Agglo Nîmes very demanding.
