In the late summer of last year, the city of Ravensburg launched the “bRAVourös” inner-city competition with three sub-competitions as part of the 12-point program to strengthen the city centre:
1.) “Into business” — start-ups for the city center that have already been founded in 2021 or will be founded in 2022; 2.) “Expansion of business” to strengthen future resilience and 3.) the sub-competition “Full commitment to Ravensburg city centre”.
Three juries consisting of citizens, experts and entrepreneurs evaluated a total of 14 applications in the last few weeks.
Mayor Simon Blümcke “First of all, my praise goes to all the sponsors of the competition such as Schwäbisch Media, the VR-Bank and the “Wifo”, all the jury members who viewed and evaluated the applications and, above all, all the companies that submitted their concepts to this competition to have. We received great concepts for evaluation that reflect the diversity in our Ravensburg city center and are an enrichment for our city. The competition participants who were not chosen as winners today also deserve great praise for their concepts and their entrepreneurship. Ravensburg is characterized by a diverse mix of retail, gastronomy, culture and services. We are undoubtedly in the midst of a change. But it is also a departure. And that brings out a lot of new things. This competition has shown this impressively.
When the certificates were handed over, Simon Blümcke congratulated the award winners for their innovation, active entrepreneurship and commitment to Ravensburg city centre.
The first-place winners in both competitions each receive 10,000 euros in prize money, the second-place winners 5,000 euros and the third-place winners 2,500 euros. Schwäbisch Media also provides media services to the value of the respective prize money for the winners of sub-competition 1. The winner of sub-competition 2 will also receive a consulting package worth 1,500 euros from the Bitzilla digital agency.
The economic developer of the city of Ravensburg, Andreas Senghas: “We as a city have broken new ground with this competition, because during and after the Corona pandemic we wanted to set impulses to strengthen our city center with various measures and want to continue to do so. The inner city competition bRAVourös is one of many other measures in the 12-point plan from 2021 and the program “Future Old Town” decided by the municipal council in spring. I would also like to thank all the entrepreneurs who submitted their concepts to the competition, and I would also like to congratulate all the prizewinners”.
