The test winner of the sparkling wine by Menger-Krug is the ideal aperitif, and for the Crémant Rosé by the Abril cellar many champagnes are left aside. We tasted it in the trendy Acht restaurant in the Belgian quarter. There, the charming Annette Schwarz is the restaurant manager and, as an IHK-certified sommelier, she is also responsible for the extensive wine list. You have strengthened our tasting team around chief reporter Joachim Frank, magazine editor Eva Fiedler, photographer Stefan Worring and myself.
We tasted a total of 36 wines in the sparkling wine, white wine and red wine categories. We do not show wines that have not passed the test.
The evaluation scheme:
Anything under 10 points – defective: Wine with more or less pronounced wine defects (e.g. smell of vinegar, oxidized)
10 – 12 points – Acceptable: Simple wine, no mistakes, but not exciting either, short finish
12 – 14 points – Good: Captivating, it makes drinking a pleasure, we like to drink a second glass!
14 – 16 points – very good: High quality wine that already shows good structure, harmony and aftertaste
16 – 18 points – Excellent: Exceptional, full of finesse, complex taste, long finish
18 – 20 points – From Excellent to World Class: Shows origin, is rich in finesse, long shelf life, storage potential
