The wine festival in Meinerzhagen offered a selection of wines as well as a musical program. In summery weather, visitors enjoyed the performances of the musicians.
Meinerzhagen – The wine festival at the weekend proved to be a visitor magnet for the third time. The city marketing association had set up wine stands around the villa in the Volkspark. The Pauser, Selbach and Burrlein wineries presented their wines. A stand from Meinerzhagen’s twin town Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire was also represented. The 21-person delegation arrived on Friday. Four of them were in Meinerzhagen for the first time and were able to enjoy the city’s summer cultural highlight straight away.
While preparations for the festival were planned on Friday, the guests will explore Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, together with members of the town twinning committee over the next few days. A reception will take place in the town hall at 10 a.m. on Monday. Afterwards, the group will visit the Hagen Open Air Museum.

The partnership has existed since 1987. “During this time, many friendships have developed that go beyond the town twinning,” said Karin Makéreel, chairwoman of the Meinerzhagen Town Twinning Committee. These include mutual visits to family celebrations, for example. On Wednesday, the group from France will begin their journey home. The guests from Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire had a good view of “the stage” from their stand, or rather the veranda of the villa.
The music program there was opened on Saturday by the group Six4Jazz. They played, among other songs, the Cole Porter song “Night and Day”. There were deck chairs on the lawn opposite the stage.

In the wonderful summer weather, visitors sat down and enjoyed the music with a glass of wine. “This year we are celebrating the third wine festival,” explained Stefan Thomas, the first chairman of the city marketing association. “We have had such good weather as today in previous years,” he added.
The Schinderhannes Mill from Valbert and Kai’s Restaurant from Nümbrecht Castle took care of the catering. The marketing association was supported by schoolchildren who will be graduating from high school next year. They helped with the setup and dismantling. “There is a new feature this year,” said Stefan Thomas: The city marketing association had set up a terrace.

Here, visitors sat at long rows of tables and chatted with neighbors and friends. Vanessa and Gianpierro Zocco entertained the audience with Italian canzoni. The two have already performed several times in Meinerzhagen and are welcome guests here. While the families slowly started to make their way home early on Saturday evening, more and more adults came to the villa. On Sunday, the wine festival weekend went into its second round – in even better weather.
