Windows Subsystem for Linux ve Windows 11

Windows 11 is in the world, and Microsoft has now added a preview version of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) to their application store. This eliminates the need to activate this functionality manually in the available operating system properties, everything can be installed easily from the Microsoft Store.

Craig Loewen from Microsoft adds that this change simplifies everything in the sense that WSL no longer has to be part of the installation images, instead it is added as a regular application (and hand on heart, most Windows users probably don’t even know something like WSL exists). Another advantage is that new things in WSL can travel immediately as regular updates, not wait for a full Windows update.

WSL in Windows 11 is currently considered a trial. It uses the Linux 5.10.60 LTS kernel and brings various new enhancements. Details in Craig’s blogpost.
